Contrary to popular belief amongst debt counsellors, filling the form on the NCR Debt Help website and saying that after you filled that form and submitted the consumer's details thereon, the NCR will "forward" the consumer's details to ALL the credit bureaus "notifying" them of the fact that the consumer is under debt review, as required by section 86, is NOT a PROVEN FACT !!! There is a very high likelihood that the form on the NCR debt help website does NOT do any such thing as "forwarding" the notice to the credit bureaus. This is an assumption that is so common amongst many debt counsellors, and it may be a WRONG ASSUMPTION. I'll need to see proof of it in order to believe it !! If there is any debt counsellor who can prove to me that the credit bureaus are indeed "notified" by the NCR debt help website that a consumer is under debt review, then I will be convinced, otherwise I will stay with my position on this matter, which is that a debt counsellor MUST NOTIFY ALL THE CREDIT BUREAUS that a consumer is under debt review as is REQUIRED BY SECTION 86, period ! NOT doing this as a debt counsellor, you may be failing to follow "due process" ! You have been warned J . . .
Here is a list of the credit bureaus and their fax numbers. It appears to me that credit bureaus largely do NOT have email addresses for receiving debt review notifications, so unfortunately you'll have to go back to FAX MACHINES and send them the notification by fax.

Alright , I've done further research and I managed to find something in "written" form from the NCR themselves with regards to this matter above, and guess where I found it ? .... In the manual of the NCR Debt Help website. It says in the manual literally :
ReplyDeleteFor all these reasons, the NCR has decided that it is more appropriate to adopt an alternative approach. This involves an on-line database, accessible to each Debt Counsellor by a unique user name and password. Debt Counsellors will log onto the system and load new clients and/or update the status of existing clients, using a standard set of status codes. This database will automatically be downloaded to each of the bureaus every day, allowing them to automatically update their database.
Mhh, interesting ! ... I retract my words in the original post above :))
There it says it, I'll quote just this piece:
"This database will automatically be downloaded to each of the bureaus every day".
Now we have it written. If any credit provider tells you that you have NOT done your job adequately as a debt counsellor because you did NOT notify all the credit bureaus as required in Section 86, you can gladly show him this piece of writing above.
